We are kicking off our yearlong celebration of Porsche’s 75th anniversary by celebrating the 50th anniversary of a historic victory for one of the most iconic race teams to be associated with the manufacturer. On February 2-3 1973, racing legend Hurley Haywood, codriver Peter Gregg, crew chief Jack Atkinson and the entire Brumos team, would work together as the factory Porsche team to take 1st place overall at the 24-Hours of Daytona in the #59 Porsche 911 RSR 2.8. Of his many previous victories, this one would mark Haywood’s first since returning from the war in Vietnam and cement him further in Brumos and Porsche Motorsports history.
In honor of the anniversary of this historic achievement, we are excited to announce that Hurley Haywood, his crew chief Jack Atkinson, and former championship winning Brumos driver Leh Keen, will be joining author Sean Cridland in attending our March experience to celebrate the release of his new book “Brumos: An American Racing Icon.” Copies will be available for purchase at the event and all attendees will be treated to dinner trackside from Grand Champion BBQ.
