In a thrilling battle of fuel strategy at VIR, Owen Trinkler, IE driving coach and driver of the #64 Team TGM Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS, drove his way to a podium finish taking 3rd in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
After swapping with co-driver Ted Giovanis for the second stint of the race, Owen would drive his way to the front of the pack, putting on a masterclass in fuel savings and car control. Following a daring move in the final corners of the final lap to put his car in 4th, Trinkler would find himself atop the podium after a tech violation saw the second place car demoted to last.
This marks Owen’s second podium of the year behind the wheel of the #64 Porsche and when asked what this means for the future, he confirmed “The stache is going to stay!”.
